Ignas Valatka from east London received six years at her majesty’s pleasure on January 7 at Snaredbrook Court. In total he pleaded guilty to nine counts including six counts of possession of an identity document with improper intention.
How he was caught
He was caught purely by chance as officers from the MET’s Servator teams spotted his brown van parked usually for two weeks when patrolling the London Royal Docks. When Valatka was questioned regarding the van he was unable to provide details of the owner so was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.
This lead to police searching his home using a house key they confiscated from Valatka. The accused lied and said he did not live there but just picked up post from a mailbox there. On searching his apartment they found £12,770 in cash as well as a variety of driving licences, identity cards and passports, all had the accused photo on but with different names and dates of birth. The crown in the jewel regarding evidence was an email from a bank regarding a business loan application in the name of Leo Foxton, one of the fake ID had the name Leo Foxton on it, game over for Ignas Valatka.
What he made
In total Valatka had applied for four loans totalling £194,000. He was successful in securing £50,000 but this was later frozen by the bank.
